Wanted St James brothers charged for attacking man
The police in St James have charged two brothers for attacking a man whom they accused of stealing money from their grandmother's house.
Charged with wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and using a firearm to commit a felony are 20-year-old farmer Austin Reid and 18-year-old Derron Reid, both of Spring Mount in the parish.
The incident happened in Sunderland district.
Reports from the Montego Bay police are that about 9:30 p.m. on the day in question, Austin, Derron and three other men reportedly approached a man while he was at a shop in the community.
Austin was allegedly armed with a machete, while Derron was reportedly armed with a firearm.
The group allegedly accused the complainant of stealing money from their grandmother's home, and Derron then allegedly used a firearm to shoot the complainant.
The man escaped, however, he later realised that he was shot.
He was treated at hospital.
A report was made to the police and the brothers were later listed as wanted.
They subsequently turned themselves in to the police in the company of their attorney and were subsequently charged on Friday, June 22.
A court date is being arranged for them.
