Sports minister Olivia Grange admitted to ICU
Government Senator Abka Fitz-Henley says Minister of Culture, Sports and Entertainment Olivia Grange was admitted to hospital and placed in the intensive care unit (ICU) as a precautionary measure.
Fitz-Henley, who was authorised to respond to enquiries from the media on Grange's behalf, says she is expected to be released from the ICU imminently.
"She has been actively engaged in monitoring developments, including what's happening at the Olympic Games which are currently underway in Paris, and is very pleased that Rasheed Broadbell was able to medal for Jamaica today in the 110m hurdles," he said.
Fitz-Henley also said Grange specifically asked him to indicate that she is appreciative of the efforts of Hansle Parchment and Orlando Bennett who also competed in the race in Paris.
"Minister Grange is grateful for all the good wishes which have come in and expects to be well soon," he said.
Grange missed the Independence Grand Gala on Tuesday as a result of her illness.
