Suspect in slaying of policeman at gas station implicated in another robbery
The man accused of murdering Corporal Christopher Smith during a robbery at a gas station on East Avenue, St Andrew, on December 6, has been charged in relation to another robbery incident in the parish.
The new charges against 23-year-old Tremaine Harris are robbery with aggravation, wounding with intent, possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The police say the charges were laid against him on Tuesday following the revelation of information that linked him to an October 12, 2024 incident on Clieveden Avenue, Kingston 6.
It is alleged that Harris was one of six persons who allegedly held up two persons and robbed them of approximately $2 million at an apartment building.
Along with the cash, Harris and his accomplices allegedly also robbed the complainants of a licensed firearm, a watch, bank cards and identification cards.
He is set to appear in court on January 14 to answer to the new charges.
Harris was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on December 11 in relation to the killing of the policeman and subsequently charged with murder, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and six counts of robbery with aggravation.
