INDECOM probing police fatal shooting of man in Lawrence Tavern
The Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) is probing the fatal shooting of a man by the police in Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew on Friday.
Andrew Richards, who was a shopkeeper and labourer, was fatally shot during a police operation in the area and an illegal firearm reportedly seized.
“The team had actually gone into the location to carry out all the necessary forensic and other investigative steps and canvas footage. We're in the process of interviewing civilians and law enforcement officers, over the next few days,” INDECOM Commissioner Hugh Faulkner told The Gleaner.
On Monday morning, placard-bearing residents staged a protest over the killing, claiming that the 39-year-old was wrongfully shot by the police.
