Two charged over gun seized in Westmoreland

The police in Westmoreland have charged two persons over the seizure of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition during an operation in Lennox,  Darliston on Sunday.

Charged is 38-year-old Phillip Warren, otherwise called 'Max,' a farmer, and 22-year-old Roshelle Hacker, otherwise called 'Rush', both of Lennox.

They are charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition.

Reports from the Darliston police are that about 5:20 a.m., lawmen conducted a search of Warren and Hacker's residence and found a Taurus pistol fitted with a magazine containing
thirteen 9mm rounds. 

An additional magazine containing five 9mm rounds of ammunition was discovered in a toilet bowl in the bathroom.

Warren and Hacker were taken into custody and were subsequently charged.

Their court date is being finalised.
