Archbishop Emeritus Edgerton Clarke has died

Archbishop of the Diocese of Kingston Most Reverend Kenneth Richards has expressed sadness at the death of Most Reverend Archbishop Emeritus Edgerton Clarke.

Clarke, who was ailing for several months, passed away peacefully this afternoon.

His passing came a day before his 96th birthday.

Clarke was ordained a priest in February 1960.

He served as Bishop of Montego Bay and the Antilles for 27 years before being installed as Archbishop of Kingston in November 1994.

He retired in February 2004.
