NWA clearing blocked culvert along Waltham Park Road, traffic changes implemented
A section of Waltham Park Road in St Andrew has been reduced to single lane traffic as the National Works Agency (NWA) undertakes drainage improvement works between Delacree Lane and Howard Avenue.
The restriction took effect today and will continue for two weeks.
NWA Manager of Communication Stephen Shaw explains that activities are in relation to the clearing of a blocked culvert.
He says the work will include the cutting of the roadway to access the culvert, and then the cutting of the top of the 1,800 mm culvert to allow for access to clear the blockage.
A reinforced concrete catch basin will be constructed at the section of the culvert that was cut.
During the period of closure, persons entering Delacree Lane will have to use Howard Avenue.
Persons heading to Hagley Park Road from Waltham Park Road may turn onto East Road then turn left onto Rainford Road and then onto Hagley Park Road.
The NWA is urging road users to exercise caution when travelling within the construction zone and to obey the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
