A section of the Rio Nuevo to Lambkin Hill roadway in St Mary will be closed to vehicular traffic starting tomorrow, to facilitate repairs on a failed section.

The closure, located near 'Bruk-Weh,' will begin at 10 a.m. and is expected to last until Friday, when the road will be partially re-opened, the National Works Agency said.

Stephen Shaw, manager of communication and customer services at NWA, explained that the roadway failure was caused by earth movement.

Repairs will involve removing the damaged section and replacing it with approved materials.

Motorists are advised to use the Gayle to Frankfurt roadway via Three Hill to Prospect during the closure.

Patching works on the Frankfurt roadway are scheduled for today to accommodate the detour.

The NWA said the repairs are part of the Relief Emergency Assistance and Community Help (REACH) Road Repair Programme.

The NWA urges drivers to exercise caution in the construction zone and follow flag persons and warning signs.
