Three women charged for break-in and theft of $800,000
Police have charged three women who allegedly broke into a woman's bedroom at an apartment at Plantation Heights in St Andrew and stole $800,000 cash on March 27.
Sixty-six-year-old Yvette Johnstone, 48-year-old Zodia Ramdatt, and 35-year-old Shari Johnstone, all of an Independence City, St Catherine address, are charged with house breaking, larceny and conspiracy.
The Duhaney Park police say about 11:00 a.m., a woman securely locked her bedroom and left her household helper to oversee the premises while she was away.
The accused women reportedly went to the premises and demanded the keys to the woman’s bedroom.
When their demands were not met, they allegedly used a wrench to pry the door from its hinges, entered the room, and stole the money from the woman’s chest of drawers.
They reportedly escaped in a waiting motor car.
A report was made to the police and the women were arrested and later charged.
Their court dates are being finalised.
