Danielle Williams first Jamaican to win Grand Slam title
Sprint hurdler Danielle Williams became the first Jamaican to win a Grand Slam title when she topped the standings in the women’s short hurdles race group with 20 points earlier today at the National Stadium.
Williams raced to 11.54 seconds to place first in the women’s 100m, picking up 12 points to add to her eight points recorded yesterday from her second-place finish in the 100m hurdles event.
Williams got the better of Tia Jones who amassed 15 points and Jamaican Ackera Nugent who finished third on 13.
Williams also became the first Grand Slam challenger to win a race group title.
