A woman whose four-year-old daughter suffered severe burns as she allegedly used a broomstick to beat the child was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.

When she appeared in court on Friday, bail was granted on condition that she does not contact the complainant and reappears in court on May 13.

It is alleged that on April 6, the accused was beating the child with a broomstick when the child fell onto a lit coal stove and received burns to the back.
