St Catherine man gets over 12 years in prison for sexual assault of teen girl
A 35-year-old St Catherine man was on Friday sentenced to 12 years and three months’ imprisonment for the 2021 sexual assault of a teen girl.
High Court Judge Yvonne Brown, in handing down sentence in the St Catherine Circuit Court, told the man that even after two previous convictions for the same offence, he has not learned.
The judge ruled that he must serve 10 years before he can apply for parole.
He must also be register on the Sex Offenders Registry.
The court heard that the man sexually assaulted the then 15-year-old girl in July 2021.
He was subsequently arrested and charged with having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years old.
He made numerous court appearances and pleaded guilty on October 31,2024.
He was sentenced on Friday, May 2.
