‘Steven Segal’ sentenced to over five years in prison for house break-ins in Portmore

Kevin McKoy, otherwise called ‘Kemar Jones’ and ‘Steven Segal,’ was today sentenced to spend more than five years in prison over a series of house break-ins and robberies in Portmore, St Catherine.

The 24-year-old, who is from addresses in Portmore and Portland, had pleaded guilty to five counts of housebreaking and larceny.

He was sentenced by Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle to one year and one month on each count, for a total of five years and five months’ imprisonment.

The judge ruled that the sentences are to run consecutively.

McKoy was described by the police as a serial housebreaker.

The court was told that a check of his background revealed that he had previous convictions for similar offences in Portland and the Corporate Area.

In relation to the case, the parish court heard that on occasions he forced his way into several houses in Portmore.

It was revealed that he used a corrosive substance to remove padlocks to gain entry to premises, with the court being told that he would, on occasions, return to the houses that he broke into.

The court also heard that he has a penchant for stealing laptops, cell phones, jewellery, and cash.

After numerous reports, the police arrested McKoy on January 16, 2025.

He was placed before the court and pleaded guilty on April 15.
