The police in St Elizabeth are investigating the death of a fisherman who drowned at sea.

It is reported that the man and two others went diving off the coast of Crawford on Sunday.

When he failed to resurface, the police were contacted and the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) called in.

Personnel from the army’s Air Wing were deployed.

After an extensive search of the area, the crew of the JDF helicopter spotted the body of the missing fisherman approximately 1.3 Nautical Miles south of the Crawford community on Monday, June 9.

The JDF notified the police’s Marine division, who subsequently recovered the fisherman’s body from the water and transported it ashore.
