Westmoreland man charged after machete attack in bar dispute
A 69-year-old man has been charged with wounding with intent following a violent altercation at a bar in Three Miles River, Frome, Westmoreland, on June 30.
He is Wellesley 'Pirate' Sinclair, a labourer.
According to the Frome Police, Sinclair reportedly held a knife to another man’s throat during an argument at the bar.
The man escaped with a cut to the arm, but Sinclair allegedly retrieved a machete from his motorcycle, chased the man, and inflicted chop wounds to his head and neck, a police statement said.
A police patrol in the area witnessed the attack and intervened, but Sinclair fled the scene.
The injured man was taken to hospital, where he was admitted.
Sinclair turned himself in to the police on Tuesday, July 8, and was charged after a statement was recorded implicating him.
He is scheduled to appear in court on August 5.
