St Andrew marketing consultant, 59-year-old Michelle Burrell, was on Saturday charged with fraud for allegedly pocketing $8.9 million from a man who was purchasing an apartment.

She is scheduled to appear in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Friday, August 8, on a charge of fraudulent conversion.

The police report that the man allegedly paid Burrell a total of $8,900,000 between January and May 2024 as part of a deposit for the apartment.

After the transaction, the man reportedly made several attempts to contact Burrell but was unsuccessful.

The matter was subsequently reported to the police, and an investigation was launched.

On Wednesday, July 23, investigators made a breakthrough when Burrell was arrested.

She was formally charged on Saturday, August 2, following an interview conducted in the presence of her attorney.
