JLP Rally | St Catherine Central residents affirm loyalty to Grange
They are her people, whole-heartedly hers, Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) supporters of the party's representative in St Catherine Central, Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, have affirmed.
So, when she arrived for the JLP mass rally in Spanish Town, St Catherine, Sunday, Grange was treated like royalty.
She was bombarded by supporters, some trying to get even a glimpse of the woman many affectionately call "Mama". Many couldn't as the crowd that surrounded her was too much, and her security team kept anyone who came too close, at arm's length
"Me rate Babsy because of everything! A we mother that! She know we pain. She know when we hungry," said Quincy Brown, a vendor and resident of nearby Tawes Pen in Spanish Town.
"She is a people person. She is for the poor. She walk door to door, wall to wall, to find out if we good," Brown chanted before walking off to attend to another sale.
"She is a good woman. Real big woman that," Christal Willis, another resident of Tawes Pen offered.
Willis was confident of victory for the JLP come Wednesday. "We win already. Because the JLP is a better option and Andrew is a better PM to run the country."
Late this evening supporters were still filing into the rally, some growing frustrated as many roads leading to the area were cordoned off by the police.
