Data from the Electoral Office of Jamaica (EOJ) shows voter turnout in the general election climbed to 30.41 per cent at 3 p.m., amid widespread complaints of slow voting.

The 30.41 per cent is double the 11 a.m. figure of 14.8 per cent.

At 2 p.m. in 2020, the EOJ reported that 30.67 per cent of eligible electors had cast a ballot after reports from 89 per cent of polling stations across the island.

In the 2016 general election the voter turnout at 3 p.m. was 39.94 per cent.

The elections body said turnout for the local government by-elections at that time was 27.35 per cent.

The body is reminding individuals that every person in line at 5 p.m. is allowed to cast their ballot.
