Bus conductor charged after gun seizure in Manchester - Police
A 30-year-old bus conductor has been charged following the seizure of a firearm and ammunition in Georges Valley, Manchester, on Sunday, the police say.
He is Chevon Johnson, otherwise called ‘Jessie’, of Sweden Street, Georges Valley, and Barrett Drive, August Town in St Andrew, said a police statement on Wednesday.
Johnson is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Reports from the Mandeville police are that about 9:15 p.m., officers were on patrol in the area when they observed Johnson behaving in a manner that aroused their suspicion.
Police say that upon seeing the officers approach, Johnson attempted to flee but was apprehended.
A search of his person was conducted, during which a Smith & Wesson Springfield 9mm pistol along with six rounds of ammunition was reportedly found.
Johnson was subsequently charged and is scheduled to appear before the Manchester Parish Court on March 13.
