Following the passage of Hurricane Melissa, which disrupted the operations of several state-run childcare facilities across the island, Pan Jamaica Property Company (PJPCo) partnered with the C. B. Facey Foundation and the corporate community at the Air Jamaica Building in downtown Kingston to launch a targeted gift-giving initiative aimed at restoring a sense of comfort and normalcy for children in state care. More than 50 assorted toys and educational materials were gathered and formally handed over to the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA) for distribution to the most impacted state-run homes. Sharing in the handover (from left) are Khalid Peart, building manager, PJPCo; Ashereen McLean, administrative assistant, PJPCo; Laurette Adams-Thomas, chief executive officer, CPFSA; Eric Vassell, regional director, Western Region, CPFSA; and Larenzo Badalo, director, Alternate Care Services Division, CPFSA.
