Man said to be of unsound mind shot during alleged altercation with police in St Thomas

A 40-year-old man believed to be of unsound mind was shot and injured during an alleged confrontation with the police in Springfield district, St Thomas, on Friday.

Reports are that about 10:40 a.m., police officers were in the area when a confrontation developed between the man and the police team.

During the incident, the man was shot and injured.

He was assisted to the Princess Margaret Hospital, where he was admitted.

The Independent Commission of Investigations has launched a probe into the incident.
