Culture and Sport Minister Olivia Grange has praised Jamaica’s performance at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Poland, highlighting a historic medal in the men’s triple jump.

The minister noted that Jordan Scott created history by becoming the first Jamaican man to medal in the triple jump at the event, securing silver.

Jamaica also earned silver through Kishane Thompson in the men’s 60 metres, while Raymond Richards took bronze in the men’s high jump. The men’s 4x400 metre relay team of Raheem Hayles, Delano Kennedy, Tyrice Taylor, and Kimar Farquharson claimed bronze.

“While we offer special congratulations to Jordan and our medalists, we must also give consideration to our other athletes who did well but did not manage get on the podium. We also sympathise with our mixed relay team that ran third but was disqualified.” Grange said in a statement on Monday. “Well done, once again, Jamaica.”

Jamaica placed 18th overall, finishing ahead of more than 100 nations or member federations.
