Portland man charged over viral video allegedly inciting violence against police, says JCF

A 32-year-old man seen in a viral video allegedly promoting violence against police has been arrested and charged by investigators in Portland, the police said Friday.

Police said Shane Ellis, otherwise called ‘Stain’, a mason of Muirton Pen in Manchioneal, has been charged with using audiovisual communication to promote criminal activity.

The charge was laid under Section 18A(a) of the Offences Against the Person Act following investigations by detectives assigned to the Portland Police Division.

The police say about that between 5:45 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Friday, a team of officers carried out a targeted operation in Ellis’s community in search of prohibited weapons and Ellis.

Ellis was found at a board-constructed dwelling during the operation; however, no weapons were recovered, police said.

He was subsequently taken into custody and formally charged.
