A teenage boy has been charged with wounding with intent after allegedly throwing a metal chair that injured a fellow student during a fight at a high school in Alexandria, St Ann earlier this month.

Police said the incident occurred about 2:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18, and involved two students at the institution.

According to the Browns Town Police, the accused had entered a classroom selling sweets, but the other student did not make a purchase.

Investigators reported that a friend of the accused then approached the student, leading to an argument that escalated into a physical altercation.

During the fight, the accused allegedly threw a metal chair, which struck the student in the head and caused a wound.

The injured student was taken to hospital, where he was admitted and later discharged.

Police said the accused was subsequently arrested and formally charged.

He was scheduled to appear before the Children’s Court in Browns Town on Friday.
