The Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum formally welcomed Barry Tuckwell to Jamaica and its culture by hosting a cocktail reception at J. Wray & Nephew's @twentythree auditorium last Thursday.

Within two weeks, Tuckwell, considered one of the greatest French horn players in the world, held two master classes, workshops and took part in the sleep-away camp founded and directed by Leora O'Carroll.

In a bid to make an impact on the musical evolution in Jamaica, Appleton Estate saw the need to honour this great Australian. The reception surrounded a powerful presentation by Senior Blender of J. Wray & Nephew, David Morrison, and enchanting music by Verlando Small, the 2013 winner of Digicel Rising Star.

Taste of Jamaica

Morrison also presented Tuckwell with a special blend imprinted with his name, explaining that the vibrant character of the drink by Master Blender Joy Spence is enriched with the taste of Jamaica and is a perfect gift for the artiste.

Tuckwell was also presented with a painting from the Jamaica Defence Force band, in appreciation of his words at their workshop. In his response, Tuckwell expressed his love for Jamaica and the wonderful experience he has had in the island.
