St Elizabeth Technical’s Jauavney James bid farewell to the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships with a classy victory in the Class One Boys 800m at the National Stadium this afternoon.

James took his time and with about 75m remaining in the race, smartly and comfortably overtook Jamaica College’s (JC) Ken Reyes to take the win in 1:50.07 minutes, as Reyes clocked 1:50.28. Calabar High School's Kimar Farquharson, was third in 1:50.81.

However, Sherwin Burgess’ longstanding record of 1:48.84 seconds, set back in 1987 remained standing for yet another year.

The Class Two event was won by Tyrice Taylor of Bog Walk High in 1:56.36 ahead of Daniel Cunningham from Calabar in 1:56.63 with Jamaica College's Javier Brown running third in 1:57.03. 

Adrian Nethersole of St Elizabeth Technical, 1:58.85 ahead of Omarion Davis of Jamaica College, 1:59.11 and Tafar-hi Hinds from St. Jago High, 2:01.49 6.
