Dino's determination - Fit-again Williams targeting strong RSPL season
Having recovered from a groin injury, Montego Bay United striker Dino Williams says he has been working hard in training to improve his fitness ahead of the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL), which begins tomorrow.
The 28-year-old Williams, who completed surgery for the injury two months ago, told The Gleaner that his recovery process has been going well and that he is looking forward to tomorrow's encounter against Tivoli Gardens, which will be played at Westpow Park starting at 3:30 p.m."My aim for this season is really to get back fit and to get back myself where I use to be and see how much I can help my team to win this competition," said Williams.
'Not there yet'
"Physically, my body is not there yet, but my teammates look really good in training and we are just waiting for Sunday (tomorrow) to come out and perform," he said.
Williams added that he has been playing with the injury for the past couple of years and he is very happy the he is over it now.
"I am feeling pretty good to know that I did the surgery and so it is my fitness and strength work that I am working on now," said Williams, who netted 10 goals in the RSPL last season."I have not set out a target as to how much goals I want to score this season because I am not a hundred per cent fit yet, and so I am just waiting to see how my body feels after I play my first game on Sunday (tomorrow)," he said
Williams, who has not played for the national team in over three-years, hopes to get back in the national set-up very soon.
"It is a [disappointing] feeling not playing for the country, but when you are injured, there is nothing you can do about it," Williams said.
"I just have to go back to the drawing board and work hard like I normally do and see if I can get back in the national programme."
