Manchester mayor hails Top Notch Football League
Top performers of the TopNotch football League, as well as new Champions Generation United, were formally recognised at an awards function by League coordinator and chief sponsor Councillor Clayon Francis of the Knockpatrick Division. In attendance was the chairman of the Manchester Municipality, His Worship the Mayor Donovan Mitchell.
In his comments, the mayor commended Francis for his vision and commitment to staging the league, which was the only one of its kind in Manchester during the summer of 2018.
Pride of place went to Generations ,who defeated the favourites, the previously unbeaten Belair Boyz, 1-0 in the final at the Sunset field. It was remarkable that the lone scorer in the final was Generation United's captain and manager Bruce Chambers, who started the team as a recreational outlet for teammates at his alma mater, nearby Northern Caribbean University.
Christopher Dunn of the champions copped the award for Most Valuable Player. Like all other individual awardees, Dunn was handed a fairly handsome cheque and trophy.
The Top Defender award went to Central United's Nicholas Bell and Top Goalkeeper was secured by Adarie Roberts of Galaxy FC, while the Top Goalscorer was Kemar Green of Central United for his eleven goals. Despite conceding the most goals by any team, the Knockpatrick Deaf Team won the Most Disciplined Team award.
