I want it all! – JC’s Murray

Former Wolmer’s Boys’ skipper Nickache Murray says it has been smooth sailing so far as he now wears the dark blue of last year’s dethroned champions Jamaica College (JC) for his swansong at the 2019 ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition.

The move came only a few days before the season’s commencement as Murray was expected to line up for St George’s College, the team he has been training with for most of the summer.

That opportunity, however, slipped through his grasp, and the former U17 national team captain found solace with the boys of Old Hope Road.

Explaining that while he has not burnt any bridges, after parting with the schools amicably, Murray felt his future lay away from the maroon horizons of Wolmer’s.

“There is no bad blood or ill-treatment with me and the schools,” Murray said. “The move was to better my career so I can get more experience and learning my football from different places going forward.”

The stalwart defender, who can also be deployed in midfield, brings along his experience as a national player into a JC unit that will be hunting silverware after their first trophy-less season since 2012.

“The experience that I can bring to this team is a sense of maturity,” he said. “...To be able to lead the team where I can, to help organise the team and talk to the players to let them know what they are doing wrong from right,” Murray explained.

He believes that the team will be able to challenge for all titles on hand and says he has seen an ambitious demeanour about the squad despite not having fully settled as yet.

“It has just been three days of training so far, but I’m getting comfortable with the team. I’m not used to some of these players, but it’s getting there so far,” he said. “We expect to challenge for all the titles this year and to see the best from me and my teammates.”

Jamaica College have been drawn in Group E with Wolmer’s Boys’, with Murray set to face off against his former team on September 16 at Jamaica College school grounds.
