Tennis Jamaica, in conjunction with Errol Campbell, former national all-Jamaica champion, former Davis Cup representative, and top-level certified coach, will be hosting free introductory tennis lessons open to all children across the island.

The clinic, which will target beginner, intermediate, and advanced players between the ages of seven and 14 years of age who have a passion for sport and want to explore the game of tennis, is the brainchild of Campbell, who coached at the Mid Town Racquet Club in New York City for many years prior to moving back to Jamaica last year.

Campbell is the current third vice-president of Tennis Jamaica and sees this initiative as his way of giving back to the sport.

“Tennis is a wonderful sport and has done so much for me over the course of my life, opening many doors along the way and creating lasting and lifelong friendships. It is my pleasure to now be in a position to attract young children to the game I love, and I am looking forward to, along with Tennis Jamaica, working with the kids and to hopefully identifying and developing future champions,” said Campbell.

EFFORTS LAUDED

His efforts have been lauded by Tennis Jamaica, through honorary secretary of the organisation, Nancy Pinchas, who underlined the sport’s development as an important focus of the administration’s mandate.

“Developing the sport at all levels is an important part of our mandate at Tennis Jamaica, and we are grateful to Errol for his giving back of his time and expertise. All those who participate will certainly benefit from a high level of professionalism and discipline, both of which have been hallmarks of Errol’s time both on and off the court,” said Pinchas.

The free clinics will commence today and continue tomorrow at the Eric Bell National Tennis Centre between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. The session will continue on the weekends through the second week of December 2019, excluding the weekends when tournaments are being held at the venue.

Parents of children wishing to participate or to get additional information, or the interested children themselves, can contact Tennis Jamaica via email at freetennisclinics@tennisjamaica.org or via telephone at 876-906-5700.
