Kingston College (KC) continued their goal-scoring exploits in this year’s ISSA/Digicel Manning Cup competition after completing a 5-1 win over Dunoon Technical High School in their rescheduled Group ‘G’ encounter.

The famed purples, who were leading 2-0 after 55 minutes when the game was called off due to severe weather on September 17, completed the demolition job at the Alpha Boys Academy with goals in the 58th, 69th, and 84th minute.

Dunoon could pat themselves on the back despite the scoreline as they did what more accomplished schools could not do in previous seasons and that was to score on Kingston College in the group stage of the competition.

With the affair coming down to a 35-minute contest, KC wasted little time in adding to their tally as Ronaldo Robinson latched on to a through ball and slotted past Richardo Watson to make it 3-0.

RELENTLESS PRESSURE

Eleven minutes later, KC continued their relentless pressure, and they would get themselves a fourth goal as Matthew Bell played a delightful ball from mid-field and found the path of the on-running Shayuan Gayle, who rounded the keeper and slot home for his second of the match, having scored from the previous date.

With a comfortable lead, the purples seemed to have taken the foot off the pedal, and that relaxed approach would cost them a goal as goalkeeper Hasani Barnes handled a ball outside the area, and Dunoon was awarded a free-kick just on the 18-yard box.

Omari Morgan then stepped up and placed a delightful right-footer past the KC defensive wall and past Barnes to make it 4-1 in the 78th minute.

Awakened by that goal, KC made a couple of substitutions, and in doing so, stepped up the tempo once again, and they were rewarded with a fifth goal as substitute Ajay Stewart responded quickly to a loose ball inside the Dunoon area and fired past Watson to seal the win and their unbeaten start to the season.

“I thought we were more clinical in front of goal this afternoon, credit to my boys, because we did what we had to do, which is to finish off the game”, said winning assistant coach Raymond Watson.

Despite losing, Damion Watson, coach of Dunoon, was pleased with his team’s effort. “We have a young team that is learning as we go on. I am happy that we were able to score a goal against KC. We are one of the only teams to score a goal against KC in the group stage, so we will take the positives away from that,” said Watson.
