DOHA 2019 | Jamaicans seeking to make finals today

Several Jamaican athletes will hope to land spots in their respective event finals as the IAAF World Championships continue in Doha, Qatar today.

The quartet of Omar McLeod, Orlando Bennett, Ronald Levy and Andrew Riley, will look to land spots in the final of the Men's 110m hurdles when their semi-final rounds get underway starting at 12:05 p.m.

Bennett and Levy will contest the first semi-final lining up in lanes three and seven respectively. 

McLeod, the defending champion, will run in the second semi-final out of lane five while Riley will start in lane eight in the third semi-final. 

The Men's 110m final commences at 3:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, Demish Gaye and Akeem Bloomfield have their sights set on the Men's 400m final when their semi-final rounds begins at 12:35 p.m. 

Gaye will start in the second semi-final in lane seven while Bloomfield will line up in lane six in the third semi-final.

In addition to the Men's 110m hurdles and the 400m, Rushell Clayton and Shiann Salmon are eyeing berths in the Women's 400m hurdles final. 

Their semi-final round will start at 1:05 p.m. with Clayton running from lane seven in the second semi-final and Salmon in the third semi-final also out of lane seven. 

In the meantime, Danniel Thomas-Dodd will finally start her championships as she competes in the Group A qualification round of the Women's Shot Put starting at 8:45 a.m.

Thomas-Dodd is the number four ranked athlete in the world at the event setting a national record of 19.55m in the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru en route to winning gold.

Among the other athletes who will begin their championships will be discuss throwers Shanice Love and Shadae Lawrence who will compete in the qualifying round of the Women's Discuss. 

Love will be in Group A of the qualifying round which starts at 10:00 a.m while Lawrence will be in Group B which begins at 11:25 a.m. 

Also, Aisha Praught-Leer will start in lane six in the first round of the women's 1500m beginning at 9:35 a.m
