Jamaica's senior women's football team defeated Barbados 7-0 in their Group B Concacaf Olympic qualifiers at the National Stadium in Kingston on Friday night.

However, it could have been more had striker Khadija Shaw not had an off night in front of goal and had Bajan goalkeeper, Kamillah Burke, not been so imperious between the sticks.

Reggae Girlz assistant coach Hubert Busby said the team played well but the performance could have been better.

"It was a good game but there were lows," he said. "Goals change matches and we could have had some more. But their 'keeper' had a very good game."

It took the hosts just two minutes to break the deadlock when Sashana Campbell netted from a cross.

Tia Briggs-Thompson's own goal two minutes later put the Reggae Girlz 2-0 up. The home team then wasted a number of chances, but Khadija Shaw and Havana Solaun were particularly unlucky in front of goal.

It was not until the 33rd minute that Campbell finished off a loose ball in the box to make it 3-0. Trudy Carter then added a fourth in the 33rd minute after some good individual skill, and then the fifth three minute later from six yards.

After the halftime break, Shaw continued to miss chances, but Chinyelu Asher eventually made it 6-0 with a good shot from 12 yards in the 70th.

Shaw eventually got her goal when she was brought down inside the area and she converted the resulting penalty to seal the 7-0 result.

The Reggae Girls have maximum six points from two games, after their 12-1 trouncing of Cuba on Monday. They play their next game against St Lucia at the same venue on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.
