Jamaica’s Michail Antonio has been nominated for the Concacaf Men’s Player of the Year award, which, this year, will also include a fan vote.

Just yesterday, Concacaf announced the new format to the awards, with the fan vote only being used for the player-of-the-year awards for both men and women.

Antonio, who is leading Jamaica’s scoring in the final round of World Cup qualification with three goals from six games, has also been on the scoresheet eight times for West Ham, along with six assists.

There will be a total of 100 votes for the category, with each Concacaf member association getting a vote each from its head coach and its national senior team captain. Those votes from the teams amount to 82 votes, with another nine votes coming from the media in the Concacaf region.

NINE VOTES FROM FANS

The final nine votes will come from fans, who can begin voting now at www.concacaf.com.

The player with the most votes will receive four overall votes, while the second-place person will receive three overall votes and the third-place person receive two votes to their overall tally.

This ratio will remain unchanged, no matter how many persons vote online.

Antonio is joined on the list by two Canadians, Jonathan David and Alphonso Davies, as well as two players from the United, Christian Pulisic and Weston McKennie.

David plies his trade for Lille in France’s Ligue 1, while Davis is with Bayern Munich in the German Bundesliga.

Weston McKennie runs out for Juventus in the Italian Serie A, while Pulisic plays in the English Premier League for Chelsea.
