Carifta Trials | Levell, Lyston look sharp ahead of 200 finals

Hydel High School's Brianna Lyston strolled into the final of the JAAA Carifta Trials girls' under-20 200 metres at the National Stadium earlier this afternoon, walking to a 23.80 seconds to lead all qualifiers.

Mount Alvernia High's Carleta Bernard, with 23.88, was closest to Lyston, while St Jago High's Shenese Walker with 23.89, rounded out the top three qualifers.

Those three will be joined in the final by Petersfield High's Ashley Barrett (24.14), Hydel's Alana Reid (24.40), Immaculate High's Mickaila Haisley (24.07), Manchester High's Michayla Sutherland (24.32), and William Knibb High's Lavanya Williams, (24.56)

Among the under-20 boys, Edwin Allen High's Bryan Levell stood head and shoulders above all, stopping the clock at 20.96, the only qualifier under the 21-second barrier.

Kingston College's Adrian Kerr will go into this evening's final as the next quickest with 21. 39, while St Catherine High's Sandrey Davison rounds out the top three with 21.44.

Also through to the final are Lacovia's Jhordane Morgan (22.07), Herbert Morrison's Mark-Anthony Daley (21.56), his teammate DeAndre Daley (21.62), Jamaica College's Malique Smith Band, who also clocked 21.62, and St Jago's Raheem Pinnock (21.83).

Lacovia High's Sabrina Dockery leads all qualifiers in the girls' under-17 200m event.

Running in heat one, Dockery clocked 24.09 to get the better of Hydel's Jody-Ann Daley, who goes into this evening's final with the fourth quickest time of 24.57.

The two were the only qualifiers home in under 25 seconds, with Hydel's Onetta Mitchell next in 25.39. Edwin Allen's Theianna Lee Terrelonge (25.53), St Jago's Pshanna Lee Blake ((25.42), and unattached Rickayla Daugherty (26.47) are the other automatic qualifiers. St Jago's Cheyenne Bennett (25.87) and Kingston Technical's Chanice Straw ((26.73) are the other qualifiers for this evening's final.

Among the under-17 boys, Kingston College's Marchino Rose, with 21.82, was the quickest qualifier.

He is followed into the final by St Elizabeth Technical's Rickoy Hunter (22.02), Spotvalley's Romario Hines (22.41), Magotty's Zachary Wallace (22.46), Wolmer's Boys' Ainsley McGregor (22.94), Kingston Tech's Natel Lloyd (24.42) as well as non automatic qualifiers, Clarendon College's Tremaine Hamilton (22.39), and Calabar's Khamani Gordon (22.43).
