THE NEWEST Flow Brand Ambassador, national winger Leon Bailey, says that he is targeting his latest local endorsement to support and inspire the dreams of other young people, knowing what it was like to navigate through his own challenges to success.

Bailey, 24, was unveiled as the telecommunications firm’s newest ambassador yesterday, joining back-to-back double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson Herah.

Bailey, who plays for Aston Villa in the English Premier League, said the partnership would be beneficial in the way of providing support to youth.

“I’m excited to be partnering with Flow. I am excited to see where the journey is going to take us. I believe that we can achieve so much together with the Leon Bailey Foundation as well to help as many as we can through the different communities and that is what we are about,” Bailey said.

Bailey has had to overcome his own struggles and feels that he has a responsibility to ensure that other young persons have the resources that he didn’t to improve their lives.

IMPORTANT TO GIVE BACK

“It’s very important for me because I have felt and known what it is like not to have something, not having support. So it is very important for me being where I’m at to give back and help as much as possible,” Bailey said. “So that is what I’m here for, and that’s why we have connected with Flow and together we will do great things throughout these communities that need it the most.”

It is that attitude which convinced Flow Senior Marketing Director Sara Martins de Oliveira to have Bailey join the Flow team.

“We are so happy to have Leon Bailey with us. I think he is the perfect example of what we value and that’s why we pursued this partnership. He is an inspiration for the youth and the younger generation and I think this is very critical,” Oliveira said.

Bailey’s agent and father Craig Butler said having Leon join the likes of Thompson Herah is massive for the country and does not underestimate the responsibilities that come with the new role.

“The international reach that comes with a Leon Bailey in addition to what Elaine brings to the table as an Olympic champion is significant. It is important that we recognise that being an ambassador is a responsibility and to be able to help and motivate others by your achievements and by what you can say,” Butler said.

Bailey is expected to feature in tonight’s final World Cup qualifying game against Honduras at the National Stadium at 8:05. He missed the Reggae Boyz last game against Canada on Sunday where they were beaten 4-0.
