CHAMPS 2022 | No surprises after 400m prelims

Holmwood Technical's Rosalee Gallimore has qualified for the next round of the Class Three Girls 400m with the fastest time in the 16 person field at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls Athletic Championships.

Gallimore clocked 55.81 seconds in heat one to advance while Lacovia High's Sabrina Dockery had the second-fastest with 56.56 in heat four and Vere Technical's Shevaughn Thomas had the third-fastest time with 57.04 in heat two.

Gallimore's teammate Abriana Wright also advances to tomorrow's semi-final with a time of 57.11.

In Class Two Ferncourt High's Abigail Campbell had the fastest time to qualify for the semi-finals in 54.70 while Natasha Fox of Edwin Allen had the second-fastest time with 55.57 which she set in heat four. Hydel High's Alliah Baker qualified with the third-fastest time with 55.72.

The Girls Class One 400m preliminaries will begin tomorrow.

For the Class Three Boys, Jamaica College's Samuel Creary is through to the semi-finals running the fastest time in heat three with 52.00. Port Antonio High's Dantae Simpson qualified with the second fastest with 52.22 in heat two and Manchester High's Troydian Flemmings has the third fastest time with 52.29. Kingston College's Marcinho Rose won his Class Two heat with 49.97 to qualify comfortably for the semi-finals. Maggotty High's Zachary Wallace has the second-fastest time with 50.26 seconds to win his first round heat while Antonio Powell from Edwin Allen has the third fastest qualifying time also with 50.26.

In Class One, Carfita Trials 400m winner Delano Kennedy from Edwin Allen qualified comfortably to advance to the semi-finals in 48.88, the sixth-fastest time among the semi-finalists. St Jago High's Gregory Prince has the fastest time among the qualifiers with 46.62 which he ran in heat one. Excelsior High's Reuel Campbell has the second-fastest with 48.02 to win his first-round heat while Manchester High's Shemar Palmer won his heat with the third-fastest time, 48.14. The boy's semi-finals for all classes are scheduled to start tomorrow.
