World U-20 | Jamaica's Lyston, Reid win heats to advance to women's 200m semis

Jamaica's Brianna Lyston and Alana Reid, Thursday, both easily advanced to the semi-finals of the women's 200 metres at the World Under-20 Championships at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia.

Lyston and Reid respectively won heats two and three. They were never troubled throughout their races, as both ran the curve hard to enter the straight leading and then cruised to victory.

Lyston jogged 23.56 seconds to finish ahead of Elvira Tanderud of Sweden, who did 23.89 and Guatemala's Mariandree Chacon, who clocked a national Under-20 record of 23.91.

Reid covered the distance in 23.47 seconds to win over Poland's Magdalena Niemczyk, who ran 23.78 and Anna Pursianen of Finland with 23.89.
