Jamaica's J'Voughnn Blake failed to progress beyond the semi-finals of the men's 800 metres at the World Under-20 Championships at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia on Friday.

Blake, drawn in semi-finals heat three and running in a downpour, was involved in a shoving battle in the middle of the race to fall behind and never recovered to fight for a spot in the final.

He ended sixth in 1.48.87 minutes with Kenya's Noah Kibet winning in 1:46.37 as Great Britain's Samuel Reardon did a personal best of 1:46.80 to get the other automatic spot to advance.

The race was the fastest of the three semi-finals as Ethiopia's Mersimoi Kasahun and James Harding of New Zealand advanced to the final as the two non-automatic qualifiers in a personal best of 1:46.95 minutes and 1:48.00 respectively.
