World U-20 | No medal for Jamaica in men’s discus
Jamaica’s two representatives in the men’s discus failed to medal on Saturday’s final day of the World Under-20 Championships at the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali, Colombia.
Christopher Young was the best-placed Jamaican as he ended eighth with Kobe Lawrence finishing 10th.
Young threw 60.31 metres on the third of his six attempts, with Lawrence doing 56.96 on his second try. Lawrence only had three throws in the final, as he failed to garner the three additional throws for placing in the top eight after those throws.
Germany won the gold and silver with Marius Karges doing 65.55 metres for victory and Mika Sosna 63.88. Ukraine’s Mykhailo Brudin won the bronze with a personal best of 53.30 metres.
