Five-time World 100 metres champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has withdrawn from the 100 metres at the Diamond League meet in Lausanne, Switzerland today.

Fraser-Pryce said in an Instagram post that she has been experiencing discomfort in her hamstring for a few days, which has not improved and on advice from her coach Reynaldo Walcott, has withdrawn from the meet as a precaution.

"I’m extremely disappointed that I won’t be able to compete tonight and I am sure you are as well," Fraser Pryce said. “No matter how hard we prepare sometimes things just don’t go as planned. The last thing I want to do is injure myself."

Fraser Pryce was scheduled to face World 200 metres champion Shericka Jackson and double sprint Olympic Games champion Elaine Thompson-Herah who all swept the 100 metres final at the World Championships in Eugene in July.
