Jamaica’s Demario Prince grabbed a silver medal for his country in a keenly contested men’s under-20 long jump final at the 50th Carifta Games in Nassau, Bahamas earlier today.

Prince, who was in the bronze medal position with a leap of 7.43 metres, used his final jump to pip the Bahamas, Mateo Smith.

Both athletes cut the stand at 7.44 metres, however, Prince’s next best mark, which he earned with his third attempt in the final round was better than SMith's next best effort of 7.33.

Both though, were bested by the Cayman Islands’ Andrew Stone, who leaped out to 7.54 metres for a gold medal.

Stone made the mark in the sand with his second effort and despite some indifferent jumping in other rounds, was never really in danger of losing.

Prince, on the other hand, displayed a fair big of consistency, landing marks of 7.31, 7.36, 7.43, 7.17, 7.37, and his eventual 7.44.
