Stage set for She’s My Destiny to close
SHE’S MY DESTINY has things her way in Saturday’s SVL 22nd Anniversary Trophy, tackling one of her favourite distances, five and a half furlongs, at which she clocked a zippy 1:04.4 last Boxing Day.
Facing friendly fire in the feature, four stablemates and Al Brown’s YELLOWSTONE, SHE’S MY DESTINY is set to wire rivals after going out of her depth at nine furlongs and 25 yards earlier this month.
Last out June 3, SHE’S MY DESTINY carried her three stablemates for six furlongs against a Gary Subratie trio going two turns. I AM FRED blew past her on the home turn, leading home a Jason DaCosta 1-2-3 completed by KING ARTHUR and MINIATURE MAN.
Having ensured a payday for her barn, SHE’S MY DESTINY gets her turn with KING ARTHUR, OUTBIDDER, MINIATURE MAN, and LUKSOL returning the favour in what should be a facile victory for the mare, who was second up to a furlong out in last December’s Mouttet Mile behind MAHOGANY.
Topweight 126lb should be no hindrance to SHE’S MY DESTINY, having carried seven pounds less when posting 1:04.4 against better sprinters at the trip on Boxing Day.
YELLOWSTONE has certainly improved since the back end of last season, finishing ahead of top-rated foreigner RUNAWAY ALGO at five furlongs straight a month ago before returning to outsprint LURE OF LUCY and LUKSOL at the trip on June 4.
However, YELLOWSTONE got a taste of graded stakes pace on April 8, leading for three furlongs before I AM FRED and RUNAWAY ALGO pounced, leaving SHE’S MY DESTINY to close into third. YELLOWSTONE finished sixth for his exertions, five lengths behind third-place SHE’S MY DESTINY.
No matter how tough he tries to be on the lead, YELLOWSTONE will be in trouble with LUKSOL ready to chase him off the headline, setting the stage for SHE’S MY DESTINY to close for the kill.
