National opener Leroy Lugg played a brilliant man-of-the-match knock which saw the Surrey Royals continue their unbeaten run in the Dream XI-sponsored Jamaica T10 following an easy nine-wicket win over the Middlesex Titans at Sabina Park yesterday.

The Kensington Cricket Club opener slammed an unbeaten 43 from 21 balls to help guide the Royals to 95 for one in eight overs, replying to the Titan’s 93 for six.

The right-hander hit one four and five sixes to set up the run chase which was ably supported by captain Javelle Glenn, who contributed an unbeaten 36 from 15 balls with four fours and three sixes.

Earlier, national off-spinner Peat Salmon bagged two wickets for eight runs to help restrict the Titans, who were suffering their second loss in four games and now sit in third position on six points.

The win sees the Royals on a maximum of nine points from their three games as they lead the Surrey Kings at the top of the standings by net run rate.

In the opening encounter of the doubleheader, Surrey Risers secured their first win of the campaign following a five-wicket win over the Middlesex United Stars.

The Stars were first restricted to 75 for nine in their allotted 10 overs, with only two batters getting into double figures. Captain Damani Sewell, batting at number three, top scored with 21 from as many balls, while number nine batter Rogjohn Henry made 13 from five balls with two sixes.

Medium pacer Herman Henry took three wickets for eight runs while national off-spinner Akim Fraser also bagged three wickets for 24 runs.

In reply, Kashane Roberts hit a top score of 24 from 14 balls with four fours to lead the Risers over the line at 78 for five with one over to spare.

Off-spin bowler Jamaine Morgan took three wickets for 12 runs from his two overs.
