Jamaica have appealed for a place in the final of the 4x400-metre mixed relay at the World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

The quartet of Demish Gaye, Malik James-King, Stacey-Ann Williams and Natoya Goule-Toppin finished fifth in their heat, clocking in three minutes, 14.05 seconds and failing to progress.

However, the Jamaicans, in an official appeal, are claiming that Goule-Toppin, who ran the second leg, was impeded during the race and the team did not, therefore, have a fair shot at progressing.
