ST GEORGE’S, (CMC):

Two years after electing Dr Dunstan Campbell as the representative for the agricultural and fishing communities in the Upper House of Parliament, he has had to step down due to medical reasons.

President of the Senate, Chester Humphrey, said Campbell’s “resignation has come in the face of some medical challenges that he has been experiencing”.

Describing his announcement as one with a degree of sadness, Humphrey told legislators the resignation was submitted after Dr Campbell engaged in “significant thought and contemplation”.

“His contribution in the Senate was profound; he is of a mild demeanour, quiet but indeed thorough,” Humphrey said while praising the former legislator, who once served as the Food and Agriculture Organisation representatives for Jamaica, The Bahamas and Belize.

In his last contribution to the Senate, Campbell gave support to the Praedial Larceny Amendment Bill, noting the frustration being experienced by farmers trying to prevent persons from stealing their crops.
