The 15th MultiCare Foundation Track and Field Achievement Championships will be staged next Tuesday, May 11, at the G.C. Foster College in St Catherine starting at 9 a.m. The meet will see 550 young athletes from the 31 MultiCare-assisted schools in east, west, and central Kingston and Greater Portmore competing in sprints, middle-distance and relay events, in four classes - 10-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18 and an open category.
Guest speaker at the opening ceremony will be Olympian Grace Jackson and vice-president of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association.
This annual athletics championships is one of six inter-schools sports competitions organised as part of the MultiCare Foundation's sports programme which seeks to inculcate in the youngsters, positive values, the life-long adoption of a healthy lifestyle, and the building of confidence and self-esteem.
Sponsored by LIME Jamaica, ICD Group Limited and Caribbean Cement Company Limited, the MultiCare Foundation promotes a culture of peaceful coexistence, tolerance and understanding among young people from diverse communities, and the reinforcement of the MultiCare fundamentals of love and respect for self and others.
