Village United ended their home fixtures in the 2009-10 Digicel Premier League in fine style on Sunday afternoon when they spanked St Georges Sports Club 3-0 in their game at the Elliston Wakeland Youth Centre in Falmouth.

In a clinical display marked by sound attacking and defending, the Cassman Williams-coached Village United got all three goals in the first half, courtesy of Dino Williams (2) and Delroy Ellis.

"We wanted to do something special for the fans as this was our last home game of the season," said Brian Sterling, manager of the Village United team. "Getting three goals in a winning effort was a perfect way to say thanks to our fans, as a token of our appreciation for their support."

Third-minute reward

Village started the game all out in attack and were rewarded in the third minute. Allan Ottey traded a series of passes with Williams, and this opened up the St Georges defence. With a clear shot on goal, Williams fired in easily, making the score 1-0.

With the momentum in their favour, Village doubled their lead in the 40th minute. A curling free kick by Ellis left the goalkeeper stranded as the ball struck the net, making the score 2-0.

A minute away from half-time, Village added a third goal when Williams beat the St Georges offside trap, and after dancing around the goalkeeper, side-footed into the goal, making the half-time score 3-0, which remained that way to the end.
