British award-winning and celebrity hairstylist Desmond Murray is booked to lead the hair design and styling team for Styleweek Jamaica from May 27-30. Deiwght Peters, CEO of Saint International, which organises Styleweek, said Murray's skills would be used to create distinct runway hairstyles that set the trend for the spring/summer 2011 collections that will be on display.

Murray has an enviable track record of achievement in the hairdressing business in London. He has been on a winning streak since 1984 when he walked away with the L'Oreal Color Trophy. In 1997, he won the Wahl Avant Garde Stylist-of-the-Year award. In 2000, he was inducted into the British Black Hair and Beauty Hall of Fame.

Murray's vision and photography helped nine salons reach the finals of the prestigious British Hairdressing awards last year.

"I am quite thrilled that the award-winning hairstylist Desmond Murray will come for Styleweek Jamaica 2010 leading the hair team. I believe it will also be a good learning experience for the Jamaican hairstylists that will be working with him," said Peters.

Murray boasts an enviable roster of celebrity clients including Julia Roberts, Beverly Knight, Craig David, Tori Amos, Elle McPherson and Destiny's Child.

More than 30 Jamaican designers are registered to present their latest collections at Styleweek. Sponsors for the event include Appleton Genesis, Appleton Jamaica Rum, the Jamaica Tourist Board, FAME FM, The Courtleigh Hotel, The Knutsford Court Hotel, Nationwide FM 90 and Kool FM.
