LIME pumps up NY netball
Regional full service telecommunications company, LIME, is bringing top quality netball to the New York area with the staging of the Caribbean Netball Association (CANA) Summer Netball League and Caribbean Cup, which will take shape in the borough of Brooklyn.
Nineteen clubs will square off for top honours at the tournament, which starts on June 5 with a street parade on the popular Utica Avenue, where each team will showcase their respective colours and kits.
Details of the highly-anticipated competition were revealed at a press conference, which was hosted at the historic Borough Hall in Brooklyn recently.
Cheryl Howell, the CANA president, welcomed the partnership with the telecommunications providers and is looking forward to this year's staging of the competition, which she expects to be of the same high standard for which it has become known.
"We are thrilled to partner with LIME for 2010. Our Tournaments have always been of the highest standard and 2010 is expected to be even better," said Howell.
Organisers hopes
Organisers are hoping that the competition will go a long way towards improving the relationship between Caribbean nationals in the area, and it is being used as a medium to celebrate the impact of the Caribbean community through the sport of netball.
"It feels natural for us to reach out to the Caribbean communities in Brooklyn," said LIME's chief marketing officer, Chris Dehring. "We have been a part of the fabric of life in the Caribbean for many years and so by extension, we must also recognise the important contribution made to our business and to life in the Caribbean in general by our diaspora communities."
LIME's sponsorship of the CANA 2010 Netball Summer League and Caribbean Cup will go towards assisting in the production of the tournament, uniforms and prizes.
LIME will also provide telecommunications services for the tournament and will have its products and services available at the various games scheduled over the summer.
